Kayaking
Sea Kayaking is an exciting way to explore the waters and coastline around Fox Landing! Students begin on land with a lesson on the basics of paddling, steering, and safety. The "scuppers" are sit-on-top kayaks; they're fun, safe and easy to use. Once students are oriented to the kayaks, they don a lifejacket and venture out into the ocean! First they'll stop in Pirate's Cove - which is well-protected with calm waters- to practice paddling and become more comfortable in the Kayak. Then it's off on a tour of the beaches and coastline of Catalina Island! While closely supervising and assisting the students, CIMI Instructors will also point out and discuss the unique flora and fauna seen along the way. Students need no previous kayaking experience to enjoy and succeed in the program; once they return to land, students are always excited and empowered about what they've discovered and accomplished!
